Each year, the Lied Imperial Public Library benefits from the generosity of area residents who make donations in the name of someone who has passed away.
The significant donations each year allow for the purchase of many new books for library shelves, said Library Director Beth Falla.
In addition, she said books are not the only memorials to the Library Foundation. Many other memorials are given throughout the year for furnishings, equipment and other support of the library, she said.
