Quilts go to homeless PDF Print E-mail

When learning of former Imperial resident Mike Smith’s ministry to the homeless through Bay 198 of Lincoln, an indoor skateboard park, Bea Bauerle decided to help by asking her quilting students to donate lap-sized quilts to Smith and his students. They used a “Lasagne” pattern, made of scraps of material, to create 10 quilts. Three blankets were also made to send to Lincoln for Christmas. Those participating included, from left, Marlea Thompson, Jamilah Bauerle, Bea Bauerle and Sherri Shoenholz, and, not pictured, Jody Fenwick, Ina Wilson, Terry Yost, Joyce Pankonin and Linda Clements. Anyone wishing to donate to the project may contact Bea Bauerle. (Republican photo)
