There are two factors that make the Chase County Schools’ Bloodmobile very important this month. Superstorm Sandy forced the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives along the East Coast, resulting in a shortfall of thousands of donations.
And, the holiday season is always a time of need.
The CCS Bloodmobile will be held Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the high school gym. Appointments may be made by calling (308) 882-4304, and walk-ins are welcome.
School nurse Angie Paisley said O-negative donors are especially welcome as their blood can be counted as two units.
The goal of the Bloodmobile is 59 units of blood. If the goal is met, as well as at the other two Bloodmobiles the school sponsors, the American Red Cross gives money towards scholarships for seniors.
