Up-and-coming country music performers at the Chase County Fair have been doing well as of late.
Last Thursday, newcomer Hunter Hayes won New Artist of the Year at the 46th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards held in Nashville.
Hayes opened the Friday, Aug. 17, Chase County Fair grandstand show, which also included Travis Tritt.
It was Hayes’ first ever CMA Award win. Viewers of the awards program also saw him perform his No. 1 Platinum hit single “Wanted” during the televised show.
The Band Perry, which performed at the 2011 Chase County Fair, also won a similar honor in April 2011 when they were picked Top New Artist at the 2011 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.
The Chase County Fair Board is now looking at options for 2013 fair entertainers, with their selections usually announced in the spring.
