The Chase County Schools speech team is busy practicing for SPVA competition Nov. 19 in the one-act play category.
“High Stakes,” a comedy by Alan Haehnel set in a classroom, will be performed in North Platte and at a later date in Imperial.
Top student Mindy, played by Emma Bauerle, wants to do well on a major exam, but her classmates erupt into chaos around her.
Teacher Mrs. Mock, played by Tapainga Kahle, doesn’t believe her, explaining the class is absolutely quiet and orderly.
Who is right?
Cast members playing students are Valeria Cervantes, Tyler Jennings, MaKenna Ketter, Claire Kuenne, Darin Knobbe, Jake Lueth, Ryan Moline, Paige Spady, Makenna Wallin, Sheldon Bartholomew, Charlie Ann Carter, Indy Smith, Anna Bauerle, Korey Krutsinger, Bridget Langin, Brittany Peters and Chuck Holman.
Crew includes Mason Holmes, Justus Wallin, Kevin German, Trey Milner, Dan Sullivan, Calen Griffin, Sam Cahow, Garret Thompson, Isaac Sorensen, Freddie Kasselman and Will Lewis.
The play, which lasts no longer than 30 minutes, will be performed for the public Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.
District competition will be in Alliance Dec. 1.
