A deer crossing the road caused the teenage driver to swerve, then lose control of his vehicle in an accident March 17.
Chase County Sheriff’s Deputy Stan Colby said Logan White, 17, was driving east on Road 744, northwest of Imperial, when the deer crossed in front of him.
Colby said White swerved on the gravel road to avoid the deer, causing him to slide and lose control of the 2000 Pontiac Gran Prix as he came to the curve on Avenue 326, which heads south.
The car rolled a half time, and landed on its top. Colby said the vehicle was totalled, with major damage to the top and driver’s side. White was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
Colby responded to the accident at 9 p.m. White was taken by Imperial EMS to the Chase County Community Hospital with minor cuts and scrapes. He was treated and released.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident scene.
