Completion of the paving project on Highways 6/61 east of Imperial is expected by the end of next week.
According to a spokesman for the Department of Roads, paving of the highway surface has been completed with the shoulder paving remaining.
The shoulders have been paved from about two miles east of Imperial, south to Enders.
All that remains is the final two miles into Imperial and a small area east of Broadway.
The paving should be completed by the end of this week, the spokesman said.
Next week, the contractor will cut rumble bars in the shoulders and complete painting. Once that is completed, the project will be declared finished.
Simon Contractors of Cheyenne, Wyo., is the primary contractor on the $2.4 million project.
The project has fallen behind the scheduled completion date of Oct. 1.
