Prepare for Popcorn Day
The Imperial Chamber of Commerce’s annual Popcorn Sculpture Contest and Popcorn Day is on Halloween this year.
The public is invited to stop in at participating Chamber businesses for free popcorn all day on Oct. 31.
In addition, groups and individuals are encouraged to participate in the Popcorn Sculpture Contest.
Sculptures can be made out of popped or unpopped popcorn and can be either 3D or flat creations.
Entries must be taken to Pinnacle Bank beginning Oct. 29 until noon on Oct. 31. They will then be judged, with prizes awarded.


Speaker of Legislature to be in Imperial for ‘Meet and Greet’

Mark and Kathy Christensen of Imperial will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” for Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood of Norfolk this Sunday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in their home at 139 Yucca Drive.
While Flood, a Republican who is finishing up the last of his eight years in the Nebraska Legislature, has not declared officially, he is testing the waters for a possible run for Governor.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, he has created  a new campaign committee, Mike Flood for Nebraska, that is separate from the one created for his legislative elections.
