Polio Awareness Month underway PDF Print E-mail

Imperial Rotarians join in the world-wide PolioPlus campaign during Polio Awareness Month. Pictured from left acknowledging being “this close” to eradicating polio are Jane Moreland, Annette Kasselman, Lori Pankonin, Dianne Way, Tom Gaschler, Cheryl Bryan, Bill Bryan and Jerry Lines. City Mayor Dwight Coleman proclaimed Imperial as part of the polio awareness efforts. On World Polio Day Oct. 24, Imperial Rotarians and CCS Rotary Interact students will give locals donating a $1 toward the campaign a purple pinkie, symbolizing more than two billion children who have received polio immunizations. Each immunized child’s pinkie finger is died purple as a marking to avoid double doses. (Courtesy photo)
