City looking for help with granite tile wording; contest started PDF Print E-mail

At last month’s city council meeting, approved was given for purchase of a granite tile to be laid in the new Nebraska Centennial Mall in Lincoln near the state capitol. Before it is laid in the mall area, however, the wording on it needs to be determined.
In that effort, city officials are asking citizens to come up with a creative, artistic and innovative tile representing the city, said Jo Leyland, city clerk/administrator.
Purchasers of the 18 x 18-inch tiles can utilize three lines of text including the hometown name and brief description of the community, up to 23 characters per line.
The contest will award a prize to the best submission, which are due no later than Nov. 1 to the city office or Chase County Schools office.
