Public invited to Bible Church’s Fall Roundup PDF Print E-mail

Games, a baking contest, a barbeque and more will be open to the public during the Imperial Bible Church’s Fall Roundup.
With the theme “That the World May Know,” the featured speakers will be Jon and Shannon Haslett, founders of Ninos de la Luz (Children of the Light), which ministers to street children in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
The Fall Roundup will be held Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. at the church, located at 800 W. 11th St.
The Hasletts met in 1986 in Kenya, where they were both impassioned to help needy children in poverty-stricken countries.
In 1992 they were led to Caracas, Venezuela, where “thrown-away” children were ignored or thought of as criminals.
In 1994 Ninos de la Luz was founded. The ministry quickly grew into a collaborated effort between local and international churches. Several years later the ministry has grown throughout Venezuela, spread into other Latin countries, and has seen many miracles over the years.
The ministry is dedicated to rescuing the street children of Latin America. They are met on the streets where they live, offered a meal and a word of hope, and invited to live in a Christian family environment, having all their needs cared for.
More information may be found at www.ninosdelaluz.org.
The Fall Roundup will begin at 4 p.m. with games for all ages.
Prizes will be awarded during the baking contest, where anything with pumpkin included must be entered by 4:30 p.m. The ages divisions are 13 and under and over 13.
At 5:30 p.m. the barbeque will begin. The Hasletts will speak at 6:30 p.m.
