The Chase County Schools musical this fall will be “Annie, Get Your Gun,” to hit the stage Oct. 20-21.
Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, the musical is based on the true life story of Annie Oakley, a sharp shooter who joined the famous Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
There, she competes against the show’s star shooter, Frank Butler, actually out-shooting him, which upsets Frank, but she falls in love with him.
There are some very well-known songs in the musical, such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “The Girl That I Marry” and “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun.”
Rehearsals began on the music Aug. 28, with dialogue parts being added since that time.
The cast includes: Liz Tomky as Annie Oakley; Justin German as Frank Butler; Anna Bauerle as Frank’s assistant Dolly Tate; Kelton Fisher as Buffalo Bill Cody; Jake Lueth as Charlie Davenport; Travis Luhrs as Tommy Keeler; Tapainga Kahle as Winnie Tate; and Mason Holmes as Chief Sitting Bull.
