With September being observed as National Preparedness Month, area blood donors have a chance to help the American Red Cross maintain an adequate blood supply.
A blood drive will headquarter at the Imperial Bible Church on Friday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Coordinator Liz Mollendor said a goal of 77 units has been set, and next week’s blood drive will also be taking double red blood cells from interested donors.
Appointments are now being taken by calling Mollendor at 308-882-3958. People can also make an appointment online at: and using the sponsor code of 0091150.
National Preparedness Month is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities. The mission of the Red Cross is to help the public prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies, and one of the ways individuals can help is by becoming regular blood donors.
Each day, more than 21,000 times, someone receives blood provided by an American Red Cross donor.
