New appointment made to county hospital board

An appointment at last week’s county commissioner meeting has put the Chase County Hospital Board back to full membership.
A recent resignation from member Bill Bauerle of Imperial was filled by Merrilyn Leibbrandt of Imperial on a unanimous commissioner vote from Jodi Thompson, Don Weiss and Chuck Vette at their Aug. 28 meeting.
Bauerle will attend his last meeting of the board this month.
Leibbrandt ran successfully for the Chase County Hospital District Board and was elected in the May Primary. At the same time, however, voters in May chose to disband the hospital district.
Leibbrandt will fill out the term of Bauerle’s that runs until April 1, 2013.
Earlier this year in April, Sam McNair of Imperial was appointed to the board to fill out the term of John Burke of Imperial, who resigned. That term expires April 1, 2017.
Other members of the board include Eddie Nichols, Wauneta (term expires April 1, 2015), Vicky Heskett, Imperial, (term expires April 1, 2015) and Robert Mendenhall, Sr. (term expires April 1, 2017).
All terms on the hospital board are six years in length. A resolution passed in April 2009 changed the hospital board positions to be at-large. Previously, representation came from each commissioner district in Chase County.
