Lied Imperial Public Library, Chase County Schools and The Imperial Republican are teaming up to encourage activities during National Adult Education & Literacy Week, Sept. 10-16.
September is also celebrated as National Library Card Signup Month. Imperial Library Director Beth Falla and staff are encouraging library card signup all month.
Falla noted that anyone can sign up for a library card at the facility by bringing in one piece of photo ID and proof of their physical address.
Since it is a tax-supported entity of the city of Imperial, city residents receive their library cards free. Those outside the city taxing boundaries will be charged a small fee for cards, she noted.
However, anyone can use the library resources such as the computers and reading material on site without charge, Falla added.
The goal of National Adult Education & Literacy Week is to work in all areas of the country to heighten public awareness, strengthen alliances, leverage resources and increase the number of people who understand the vital role adult education and family literacy play in our nation’s well-being.
