Rotary District Governor visits Imperial PDF Print E-mail

On Aug. 28, local Rotarians were pleased to welcome Rotary District Governor Dian Edwards, who is also a Project Manager for Northeast Community College in O’Neill.
Before her program, Edwards presented local Rotarian Don Newman with a Paul Harris Fellow award for his contribution to the Rotary Foundation. The award is named for the founder of Rotary.
During her year as District Governor, which began July 1, Edwards and her team will help to strengthen and encourage district clubs through onsite training sessions and online orientation for new members. She also announced the formation of at least two internet clubs, or E-clubs, one of which is designed for members of rural communities.
Rotary District 5630 includes over 1,300 members representing 38 clubs and covering a geographical area from Grand Island to Chadron.
Edwards also distributed pins that display the International Rotary theme for 2012-13: Peace through Service, reflecting the focus of the 2012-13 Rotary International President, Sakuji Tanaka of Japan. At this time, one of the more prominent goals of Rotary is the eradication of polio throughout the world, through a program known as PolioPlus, supported by the Rotary Foundation.
