Marriage proposal caps off fair parade

This year’s fair parade featured a new twist when Brad Wagner proposed to Sheri Hink near the review stand.
Wagner works at Regier Equipment in Madrid and was driving a small tractor for Regier in the parade.
On the top of the bucket was a rolled-up banner. All that could be seen were the words “Sheri Hink . . . .”
Hink, who is the managing editor at The Wauneta Breeze, was on the Breeze’s float earlier in the parade.
Hink’s bosses, Russ and Lori Pankonin, told her they needed her at the reviewing stand right after she got off her float, as they were aware of the plan.
Hink didn’t quite know what was going on when Brad approached on the tractor. Then he stopped, tilted the bucket, and unfurled a banner that said: “Sheri Hink . . . will you Marry Me?”
Hink was taken totally by surprise. She walked out in the street to meet Wagner, who had gotten down off the tractor.
He knelt on one knee and made the proposal official, giving her an engagement ring.
