When I think of the Chase County Fair, I think of family.
With just a glance over the extensive fair schedule Aug. 11-19 this year, it’s easy to pick out the fact our fair board keeps family and youths in mind when they develop the schedule each year.
Besides the half dozen 4-H and FFA livestock and small animals shows, round robin contest and livestock auction, just count up the many other events for family and kids to enjoy.
Such events as the ever-popular mutton bustin’ contest, a barnyard scramble, frozen t-shirt contest, “Got Talent?” show, Christian Family Show, pedal tractor pull, fair run (there is a kids’ division), Saturday’s huge parade, dance crew contest, the car and motorcycle shows and, of course, the four-day carnival and four days of Lions Club bingo all have the family in mind.
Some new events this year—Friday and Saturday’s hypnotist shows, helicopter rides and a bounce house—are family friendly, as well. And, don’t forget the PTO-sponsored dunk tank to raise money for smart boards at the school.
The entire town and county gear up for the fair each year, and 2012 is no different.
Take time to spend with your family this year at the fair. Such times are the ones to be cherished.
Thanks, fair board, for your family-friendly fair.
