The Prestige team from Imperial repeated as the summer’s coed tournament champions, advancing through last week’s tourney undefeated.
Finishing second were the Smurfs (Alex Strand), while No Docs placed third.
The double-elimination tournament, played Monday through Wednesday last week at the Schroeder Park field, featured 14 games. Wednesday night’s games had an hour and half rain delay, sending the championship game late into the evening.
En route to the championship, Prestige won four games. The Smurfs won their first two games, lost to Prestige earlier Wednesday and came back through the loser’s bracket to meet Prestige in the finals when Prestige took a 17-2 win.
Rounding out the tourney place-winners were Wauneta Crossroads 4th, Sis and Brian Strand teams tying for 5th and 6th, while the Kitt and Purple Lighthouse teams tied for 7th and 8th.
All eight teams in the tournament received cash prizes from league fees.
League Coordinator Denise Smith expressed thanks to summer rec. director Bruce Peterson for preparing the fields for the tournament and throughout the season.
