Students at Chase County Schools will have the chance to dunk their teachers at a fund-raising event at the fair next week.
Sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), funds raised will be used to help purchase smart boards for elementary classrooms at CCS.
A smart board is an interactive white board that can be connected to a computer, then display information, such as maps, on a larger scale. They cost between $1,500 and $1,800 each.
Tonya Wilson of the PTO said they have already received a donation to purchase two of the smart boards.
The dunk tank will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday of fair week, Aug. 16-18, from 1 to 7 p.m., north of the expo hall.
Wilson said teachers have been scheduled in one-hour time slots. For a small charge, a person will have the chance to throw a ball and knock them in the water.
As of this week, staff confirmed for the dunk tank were Jacci Paisley, Nancy Sorensen, Annie Pursley, Becky Odens, Janet Sheaffer, Kim Bubak, Kim Spady, Jason Speck, Melissa Wallin, Connie Thompson, Lisa Krutsinger, Mary Fortkamp, Ashley Exum, Chris Sander, Jerel Fortkamp, Gary Patch, Tom Hansen, Dennis Batterman and Heather Converse.
Wilson noted other fundraisers including a book fair and collection of box tops have also helped support the smart board fundraiser.
Next week’s newspaper will have a schedule of teachers and their time slots in the dunk tank.
