Stromberger steer takes top honors at Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic PDF Print E-mail
An 870 lb. crossbred steer shown by Tanner Stromberger of Imperial was selected the Supreme Market Animal at the 2009 Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic Feb. 22 in Kearney.
The steer topped between 300 and 350 other animals in the competition held at the fairgrounds in Kearney.
The winning steer Stromberger showed won a combined crossbred division earlier in the day. That steer, along with the first place winners from all the other breed classes, were then brought back to the ring for the Supreme Market Animal selection.
Other Imperial youths showing steers in the Classic included Steven Fish, Perry Vetter, Brady Gittlein and Regan Gittlein.
Jared Knobbe also participated in the senior livestock judging contest on Feb. 21, as part of the Classic events that weekend.
Knobbe joined three other youths from Perkins County to make up the team, one of 13 in the senior competition.
