The Quilters were begun by Bea Bauerle as a Monday night fun activity. The ladies—young and older—gather in the Great Room at Crossroads Wesleyan Church, with their sewing machines, ironing boards, scissors, cutting boards and lots of cloth materials. One of their special projects was the Quilts of Valor for the local 4-H group. Recently, the group decided to provide a silent auction of project pieces with the proceeds from the auction going to the Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pak Site at Crossroads Wesleyan July 24-28. To date almost 100 items are on display and the auction is in progress. The auction will conclude on Sunday, July 22, at 12 noon. Anyone can come by the church building daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and check out the options and participate in the auction. So far donated items include quilts—hand and machine quilted, Tyco Bears, wall hangings, pot holders and coasters, embroidery work, placemats, table runners, antique embroidery, wooden clocks, ceramics and other crafts.
