Seniors lead most categories in season-ending basketball stats PDF Print E-mail

    This year’s seniors led most of the categories in the final season statistics for the Longhorns’ 2008-09 basketball campaign.
    As a team, the Longhorns finished with a 4-16.
    A look at the shooting statistics shows that senior Alex Sharp led the team in three-point shooting.
    He hit a total of 15 treys, hitting 33 percent of his attempts. Sophomore Alex Strand hit 14 treys but was only 23 percent outside the arc.
    Seniors Josh Schuman and Colin Larsen led the shooting inside the arc and overall scoring for the season.
    Schuman hit the most deuces with 84 with a .50 average from the field.
    Larson hit 70 two-pointers, shooting 56 percent from the field.
    At the free throw line, Larson dropped 19 on the season with a 54 percent average.
    Daniel Regier and Sharp led the team percentage-wise, hitting 74 percent of their attempts while the team only averaged 56 percent.     
    Schuman finished with 177 total points or an 8.9-point average per game. Larson finished with 171 for an 8.6-point average per game.
    As a team, the Longhorns averaged 40.3 points while giving up and average of 51.6 points.
    Schuman led the rebounding with a total of 138 including 40 offensive rebounds and 98 defensive rebounds. Larson finished with 119 rebounds, 39 offensive and 84 defensive.
    Schuman also collected 46 blocked shots for the year, along with 24 by Larson.
    In the steal category, Kyle Bottom led the team with 11 while Strand and Sharp each added 10.
    Sharp dished off the most assists during the season with 41, followed by Strand with 31.
    Bottom led the team in turnovers with 52, followed by Strand with 50 and Casey Francis with 49. As a team, the Longhorns gave up 18.1 turnovers per game.
    In the foul category, Larson committed the most fouls with 64, followed by Strand with 63.
