By Carolyn Lee The Imperial Republican The Vlasin family closed Holiday Farms Sunday at its location at 507 East 5th Street. The business and a new one owned by the Vlasins will now be located in the former Stanbar Clinic building at 821 Hwy. 61. The Beverage Barn, selling beer, wine and spirits, was to have been opened in May. Donna Vlasin said the cooler still needs to be hooked up and electrical work completed. “We’re hoping to have it open well before July 4th,” she said Friday. Adam Vlasin will be the manager of The Beverage Barn. Along with part-time employees, the rest of the Vlasin family will work at that business. Donna and Matt Vlasin, who run Holiday Farms, will move the greenhouse from its present location “when the wind quits blowing so we can take the top off,” Donna said. They are in the process of selling the 5th Street lot. The greenhouse will be opened again for Christmas. However, the Vlasins will also sell potted plants and trees at the new location at a later date. At the Highway 61 location, The Beverage Barn will fill the present building. Holiday Farms will occupy a site to the south, including stables and part of an existing garage. The Vlasins purchased the property from Lex Thompson and Dave Johnsen.
