Teammates recognized seniors Adam Dickey and Adam Moline as their honorary captains for this year’s Longhorns boys basketball team.
It’s fitting because the two seniors not only provided team leadership but led the team on the court as well, leading many of the statistical categories this season.
Dickey scored a total of 361 of the team’s 1150 points this season, averaging 15 points per game.
Moline tallied the next highest number of total points with 247 for an average of 10.3 points per game. Between the two of them, they accounted for 53 percent of the team’s total points on the year.
Dickey was the leading rebounder by far with 67 offensive boards and 132 defensive boards while Moline led the team in assists with 104.
At the free throw line, Moline led the team by hitting 67 percent of his attempts. Dickey followed with a 61 percent average.
It was freshman Jeff Dickey, Adam’s younger brother, who made a big impact on the team after the Christmas break.
He finished with 145 points, 6 points per game, including a 32-point night against Hershey.
He led the team shooting percentage-wise, going 38-71 from 2-point range for a 54 percent average, 19 of 50 for a 38 percent average outside the 3-point arc, finishing with an  overall season average of 47 percent.
Junior Kale Gockley hit 12 of 33 treys to finish the season with a 36 percent average.
As a team, the Longhorns averaged 47.6 points per game while holding their opponents to 48.1 points per game.
Coach Carl Zuege said his seniors will be missed next season but looks forward to bringing back a number of players who got plenty of experience this season.
