May earns RMAC wrestler of the week honors PDF Print E-mail
University of Nebraska-Kearney wrestler Taylor May of Imperial was recognized earlier this month as the Wrestler of the Week for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  In the week ending Jan. 31, May defeated the No. 1 and No. 3 nationally-ranked wrestlers at 165 pounds and went 3-0 that week. In a home duel against Central Oklahoma Jan. 29, May outscored No. 3 ranked Mike Morgan 5-0. On Jan. 31, he beat top-ranked Aaron Denson, Nebraska-Omaha, 3-2. May gave up only two escapes in the two matches. He also picked up a forfeit win in a duel against N.M. Highlands. May is currently ranked third in the nation in NCAA Division II after recovering from a broken collar bone suffered early in the season. His record stands at 30-11 going into the RMAC tourney in Kearney Saturday. Here, May is in control of Chadron State’s Bryan Irwin in a 11-2 major decision win in a duel at Chadron last week.
