Weather allows brick work completion PDF Print E-mail

Except for the snow last Friday, the weather has been generally cooperative in recent weeks for completion of the brick work on the east side of the city offices building between 7th and 8th Sts. on Broadway. At right, Jason Kirkpatrick of Grant was busy on the top third of the exterior last Thursday trying to get as much done before the snow hit. He was back on the job this week, as warm weather returned. He thought, weather permitting, he could finish in a couple of weeks. The rebricking of that wall, which Kirkpatrick started mid-January, was necessary after the old elementary school building butting up next to it was torn down last fall. The new brick being laid matches very closely to the old brick that remains on the structure that contains the city council chambers, the city gym and city offices. The lot where the old school stood has been leveled and will most likely house a new fire hall and ambulance barn. The council has not yet voted on use of the lot, but have been meeting with the Imperial Volunteer Fire Dept., and the Imperial EMS about building plans for that site. (Republican photos)
