Compact trash, save money

His web site is up and Jerry Clark of Imperial is beginning to sell his own invention, the Black Thunder Trash Stomper.
The five pound, all metal tool is designed to pack trash in the empty air spaces in a trash container. It also crushes aluminum cans and tamps and packs dirt.
Clark came up with the idea after using a similar tool for years on his own trash cans. “I’d seen people using their hands, rakes, and jumping up and down in toters,” he explained.
“There’s 30 percent dead air space in toters,” he noted, including empty corners. Compacting the trash means more can be added to the toter, and less money is spent on trash disposal.
The 36-inch long handle attaches to a five-inch round foot that is a quarter of an inch thick. Some fabrication of the tool is done in different places. Clark assembles the pieces in his shop in Imperial.
Clark named the trash stomper Black Thunder because the tool is painted black, he said. It sells for $39.95 plus shipping.
The tool is trademarked. Much of the legal work leading up to production was done by Creighton University Law School students.
