Monday a day for show choirs PDF Print E-mail

Show choirs were here in force Monday, as Chase County Schools hosted the Nebraska Choral Directors Association’s Show Choir Festival for schools in the western part of the state. Nineteen groups performed this year including Chase County’s 9th St. Singers. The 9th St. Singers were one of five groups earning a Festival Gold Trophy this year, which is given to groups earning a designated number of points for their NSAA designated classification for music. Other Gold Trophy winners included Minden Amethyst, Bayard’s 21st Century Singers, Kearney High School Pops and Hershey Harmony. Junior high show choirs are not generally eligible for a Gold Trophy unless judges determine a junior high group has given an exceptional performance for their level. Two judges scored all of the groups that performed while two others provided verbal critiques. (Republican photo)
