‘Eye Contact’ promotion to challenge newspaper readers PDF Print E-mail

Longtime subscribers to The Imperial Republican may recall a fun-filled promotion the newspaper featured 18 years ago.
It challenged people to identify local residents by just a photograph of their eyes.
Due to its popularity, the newspaper is bringing back the contest as a special pre-Valentine’s Day promotion.
Working with the Imperial Chamber of Commerce, the “Eye Contact” promotion will invite local residents to match up many of Imperial’s business owners or employees along with their spouses, just by looking at photos of their eyes.
Pictures of the business owner/employee’s eyes will be shown on one side. Corresponding pictures of the spouses will be on the opposite side of the page. The businesses that are participating will be listed in between.
Readers will be challenged to match up the business person with the spouse from the many pictures of eyes, and put them with the correct business.
Chamber Bucks will be awarded to the top three individuals making the most correct matches. In case of a tie, there will be a drawing.
The layout of unidentified eyes will run in next Thursday’s Jan. 27 edition. Entries must be mailed or delivered to the newspaper no later than Monday, Feb. 7, at 12 noon.
Winners and all of the matched-up couples will be revealed in the Feb. 10 newspaper issue.

Business owners/employees and spouses participating need to stop in at the newspaper office no later than Friday this week for their photographs.
