The Chase County wrestling team took seven wrestlers to the Ogallala invite. Despite having as many open weights as full, Chase County was able to take a win in one of the five duals of the day.
Drew Curtis was the hot wrestler of the day. Curtis was the only wrestler on the squad who faced opponents in each of the five duals. After winning his first match 8-2, the next four matches were all won by pinfall.
Keithan Cochran also had an unblemished record on the day, winning three matches by pinfall and the other two by forfeit.
Garret Thompson and Jesse Ferebee each saw their first varsity action of the season. Thompson struggled a bit in the varsity division, but wrestled well, said Coach Matt Vlasin. Thompson was pinned in 3 matches and won two by forfeit.
Ferebee went four overtime periods in his first match of the year before losing to Tony Conseco of Mitchell by a takedown. He won his next match and got a forfeit in the finals to wind up 2-3 on the day.
Jeremiah Lueth started off strong with a pair of pins but then lost his next two matches before winning by pin in the final dual.
Trevor Fuehrer went 1-4 on his day. During his fourth match of the day against North Platte High’s Bobby Cahill, Fuehrer suffered an injury which kept him out of the final dual.
