The Imperial Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Jan. 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial. According to coordinator Karen Hayes, the goal is to have 84 appointments.
Hayes notes that a donor may not participate in this drive if they gave blood at the bloodmobile at Chase County Schools on Jan. 12.
To schedule an appointment, contact Hayes at (308) 882-5645 or (308) 882-6030, or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You may also register online at (code 315).
All walk-ins are welcome. Lunch will be provided to all presenting donors.
The Blood Drive will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Since 1970, January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month. This year, the American Red Cross thanks all blood donors for  helping to ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need both locally and across the country.
The blood supply is particularly vulnerable during the winter months due to inclement weather, seasonal illness and busy holiday schedules.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.
Donor qualifications
A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health may be eligible to donate blood.
