Personnel at the Lied Imperial Public Library are encouraging area residents to submit entries for its Holiday Writing Contest.
Library Director Beth Falla and staff are inviting people to share a short story or poem about their “most memorable” Christmas or winter holiday. Stories or poems may be as short as 26 words. There is no maximum limit.
Falla said the contest will be divided into three age groups—children (age 6-12), young adults (age 13-18) and adults (19 and older).
The library will select a winner in each age group, who will receive a brand new book.
Deadline for entry is Monday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. Entries can be submitted several ways, Falla said, either by bringing them to the library, placing them in the library’s drop box, mailing through the post office or by email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Winners will also be published in The Imperial Republican’s Christmas issue.
Falla said they plan to archive all of the entries in the library for patrons to read at their leisure.
