Eleven seventh and eighth graders are out for the 2010 junior high wrestling team, which opened action last Friday.
Coach Matt Vlasin and Asst. Rob Lueth are working with the team, which has six tournaments on this year’s schedule.
Last year, all of the SPVA conference schools, of which Chase County is a member, and a few others in the area, moved from a late winter season to late fall. All of their tournaments will conclude before basketball games start, Vlasin said.
Most other junior high programs in the state are now competing at this time of the year, Vlasin said.
