Work is progressing on the new street construction on Imperial’s East 12th Street.
According to Gary Dicenta, Miller & Associate’s supervisor on the project, the crew from Concrete Products, Inc., started milling the north half of East 12th Wednesday from near the trailer court west to Broadway.
And, if all goes well and the weather cooperates, they hope to have that final major section of East 12th poured by the end of this month.
After that is poured, it has to cure at least a week before any driving on it. The crew will then finish with work on the intersections, driveways and sidewalks.
At the far east end of 12th St., the crew has milled up a 200-foot section at the Highway 61 intersection, and could pour the south half of that area yet this week, Dicenta said.
The entire south half of East 12th is now poured, except for the section that abuts Highway 61.
Local traffic only is able to use the south half of East 12th from Longhorn St., east to get to businesses on the south side of the street.
Imperial Inn customers are using the motel entrance off of Highway 61, north of East 12th St.
Concrete Products, Inc. is working on a contract completion deadline of Nov. 26.
