Nicholas Gonzales, 22, is in the Chase County Jail after being charged with sexual assault of a child.
The arrest was made late Friday night at the Chase County Fairgrounds following an alleged assault to a 12-year-old Imperial girl at the fairgrounds.
Imperial Police Sgt. Rob Browning said the arrest came shortly after the victim provided a physical description of the man.
Evidence was collected, Sgt. Browning said, after the victim was taken to Chase County Community Hospital where she underwent examination by a doctor to determine if sexual contact had been made.
Gonzales also underwent an examination in the jail by another physician to collect additional evidence, Browning added.
Bail was set on Sunday at $250,000 by County Judge Edward Steenburg. Gonzales must post 10% of that to be released.
As of Tuesday, no arraignment date had been set.
Browning said law enforcement is being assisted by the Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center in North Platte, where an interview specialist was set to meet with the victim on Wednesday this week.
He said Tuesday the suspect has not yet been interviewed for the record by law enforcement.
