Mueller’s petition effort for sheriff’s ballot nearing goal

Kevin Mueller’s effort to gather the needed signatures for a run for Chase County Sheriff is nearing its goal, he said Monday.
Mueller, currently Keith County Sheriff, said a check with his petition circulators in the county last week indicated they have “roughly 300 signatures collected.”
That’s shy of the 369 verified signatures he needs to earn a place on the Nov. 2 General Election ballot. His goal is to get over 400 signatures in the next two weeks.
He must meet a Sept. 1 deadline for submitting his petition signatures.
Since announcing in June that he was making the petition effort, Mueller said he’s had a lot of positive feedback and encouragement.
“A lot of the people want another choice at the General Election than one person,” Mueller said.
