It’s become almost an annual trek back to the Midwest for a Massachusetts man bent on trying to find credible proof of a possible 1884 sighting of what some call a UFO.
Robert Golka of Brockton, Mass., is here this week, about a year after his last visit, but this time carrying with him a three pound aqua-green colored piece of glass.
He’s not been able to prove yet how old this piece of glass is, which could be an important part of his search.
He’s long stated that if the 1884 news stories are true, something like this greenish-colored glass would have resulted after the object’s intense heat fused with sand after it crashed into the ground.
For about three years now, Golka has been covering a lot of miles in this area, hoping to pinpoint the possible location of where this 1884 “heavenly body” landed, or if it even did.
News stories in the Nebraska State Journal and the Omaha Bee newspapers reported on the June, 1884, story of an “aerial visitor” reportedly landing 35 miles northwest of Benkelman.
