The wife of a Fort Collins, Colo., man arrested for first degree domestic assault and three other charges remains in a North Platte hospital this week.
Jackie Alsbury, 51, suffered compartment syndrome in her left arm, and a third surgery on Tuesday also included skin grafting to deal with injuries sustained in an incident in Imperial Wednesday, July 7. She was air-lifted to North Platte following initial treatment at Chase County Community Hospital.
Carroll Alsbury, 57, of Fort Collins has been charged with four felonies relating to the injuries sustained by his wife.
According to Imperial Police Sgt. Rob Browning who is heading the investigation, there was an alleged fight between the couple as they left the VFW Club in Imperial that evening, shortly after 10 p.m.
At the stop sign at East 4th and Broadway Sts., Sgt. Browning said Alsbury allegedly pushed his wife out the passenger side door, then intentionally drove over her in the 2010 Ford Raptor pickup he was driving.
He then reportedly left the scene of the incident.
Alsbury was later arrested about 1:40 a.m. last Thursday morning at his rural Dundy County residence, 13 miles south of Imperial.
Browning’s report indicated Alsbury had killed the power to the home, but when ordered to come outside, he did and was arrested without incident.
Assisting with the arrest were Imperial police officers Ryan Wisnieski and Kyle Hansen, Dundy County Sheriff Bob McBride, Dundy County Deputy Cruz Schoenrock and State Trooper Doug Petty of McCook.
Alsbury was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday of this week before County Judge Edward Steenburg in Chase County Court on four felonies: first degree domestic assault, driving under the influence (DUI)-serious bodily injury, willful reckless driving and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
After initially being held without bond due to the domestic assault charge, Alsbury’s attorneys requested a bond review hearing, which was granted Monday. At that time, bond of $50,000 was set, Alsbury posted the required 10% and was released.
He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, according to Browning’s report.
Alsbury’s pickup is being held as evidence, and Imperial police officers were continuing to conduct interviews about the incident early this week.
