Imperial police have taken into custody a suspect in Tuesday night’s stabbing outside of the Subway restaurant in the 400 block of Broadway.
Stuart Gordon, 22, was arrested about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday after being seen by a city employee at Kwik Stop. He was taken down and handcuffed by Imperial Police Chief Larry Browning near the city office as he walked through the parking lot.
He’s been charged with felony first degree assault with a weapon, Browning said, and is in the Chase County Jail. No bond had yet been set when this issue went to press.
According to Browning’s report, the suspect allegedly stabbed Marie Sieperda, an employee at Subway, as she and co-worker Michelle Banks were leaving the sandwich shop shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
