In the May Primary Election, Chase County voters decided 629-566 to create a hospital district in the county.
Implementation of that process will be discussed in a joint meeting of the commissioners and the Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH) board Tuesday, June 22.
The meeting will be held in the county courtroom beginning at 6:30 p.m.
As required by election statutes, the county commissioners held a public hearing on the formation of a hospital district prior to putting the question on the ballot.
During the hearing, they dealt with two specific issues—district boundaries and how to elect members.
In doing so, Commissioner Jodi Thompson said they completed their required statutory duties.
What Thompson said she didn’t realize at the time were the ramifications the county hospital would face if a hospital district was approved.
