Weekend will usher in May Day; colors overflow PDF Print E-mail

April showers have been plentiful in recent weeks, adding credibility to the adage, “April showers bring May flowers.” Colorful tulips, daffodils and other early flowering beauties have popped up all over the Imperial area, thanks to three inches of moisture so far this month. The colorful yards and flower-filled landscapes are giving a big welcome to May Day which arrives on Saturday. Members of the Chase County Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge (FFVF) chapter are taking advantage of the popular May Day by creating baskets for special delivery this Friday. Claudette Swanson, at right, is pictured with some of the May Baskets that will be going out to loved ones and special friends. She said it’s the second year for the FFVF fund-raiser, and as of Wednesday, they had about 130 May Basket orders. That’s up from 100 last year when the May Basket delivery project was initiated.
