Earth Day celebrated with tree planting

Two members of Virginia Harford’s class at Chase County Schools partnered with the City of Imperial last Thursday to observe Earth Day with a skit and a tree.
Michael Musgrove and Chase Reasoner helped city employee Tina Mandeville plant a serviceberry tree on city property, south of the city offices.
They then presented a lesson in recycling by portraying a box and a pop bottle. The box and pop bottle fight their way out of a trash can and become recycled into a bigger box and a lamp.
The boys wrote the skit during time with Harford in her HAL class.
The first Earth Day demonstration was held on April 22, 1970. It was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson.
