Youths in Imperial wanting to take part in the city’s spring soccer league need to be registered by this Friday, Feb. 12.
Registration forms were sent home in January with K-6 students at Chase County Schools. Additional forms are still available at the school office or the city office.
The forms and fees must be turned in to the city office by 5 p.m. Friday.
Coordinator Shannon Kuhlmann said registrations will be taken until this Friday. After that date, a $20 late charge per player will be assessed, and there is no guarantee the youth will be able to be placed on a team.
Those who are registering children for the first time in the soccer program need to attach a photocopy of the child’s birth certificate with the registration.
The $30 registration fee includes a team shirt, socks and insurance, Kuhlmann said.
Parents registering multiple children in the program will save some money after the third child from the same family joins the program.
Teams will be set up in the following age divisions—U-6 (age 4-5), U-8 (age 6-7), U-10 (age 8-9), U-14 (age 10-14) and U-19 (age 14-19).
The U-6 through U-14 teams play on Saturdays, while the U-19 teams are scheduled for Monday night games. Practices will be scheduled around other school sports programs where possible, according to Kuhlmann.
Imperial competes in the Great Plains Soccer League.
Kuhlmann said the program needs a lot of help from volunteers to serve as coach coordinators, ref coordinators, coaches, referees and field coordinators.
