Howard Buffet comes to learn about biomass PDF Print E-mail

Howard Buffet, bottom left, the son of legendary investor Warren Buffet, came to Imperial last week to learn more about biomass and the corn stover collection and storage project undertaken by the Imperial Young Farmers & Ranchers. Buffet farms in both Nebraska and Illinois and is a former chair of the Nebraska Ethanol Board. Todd Sneller, top left, director of the Ethanol Board, was among those who accompanied Buffet here. Local farmer Rod Johnson, top right, was heavily involved in the project and answered many of Buffet’s questions. Bob McGrath, former FSA county director, was also present to respond to Buffet, along with Leslie Carlholm, economic developer for the city. Through his foundation, Buffet has established study farms in Africa and was especially interested in the results of soil studies measuring what effect removing stover had on soil conditions.
