The Imperial Republican
The staff and board of directors of the Upper Republican Natural Resources District (URNRD) will hold an open house at their new building at 511 East 5th Street in Imperial Tuesday, Jan. 6.
The open house will run from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and will allow people to see the new facility completed this fall.
The new building features spacious offices for staff, a conference room, a large shop for technicians and their vehicles, a large walk-in cooler for tree storage and a large board meeting with kitchen facilities.
The board plans to make the meeting room and kitchen available for public functions.
The building design allows for the board room, kitchen and rest rooms to be shut off from the rest of the office to accommodate public use.
Tuesday, Jan. 6 is also the date for the regular meeting of the URNRD board.
However, the meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the Imperial office, rather than the normal 7:30 p.m. meeting time.
The morning meeting will be followed by the open house and a public information meeting.
Public information meeting
In conjunction with the open house, the URNRD board will hold a public information meeting for patrons beginning at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The purpose of the meeting is to bring people up-to-date on a number of issues.
These include the Kansas/Nebraska arbitration, augmentation projects to meet compact compliance with Kansas, LB 701, forecasting, water quality, water use, certified acres and use of GIS, and allocation transfers.
