First and second place winners in the annual Imperial Christmas lighting contest have been announced.
The Imperial Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual contest, selecting a first and second place in these categories—religious, contemporary, best tree, most unique and judges’ choice.
Judging took place Sunday night.
First place winners will receive $25 in Chamber Bucks, while second place will be awarded $15 in Chamber Bucks.
The Chamber had established a new category this year, children’s window decorating, but the judges announced there were no selections made in that category.
One of the judges for the Chamber contest, Lori Owens, said it seemed there were not as many homes decorated this year, but noted the continual snows and cold weather Imperial has received may have been a factor.
Here are this year’s first and second place winners.
Religious—1st, Dick Bartels, 680 W. 5th; 2nd, Delores Francis, 465 Golf Course Rd.
Contemporary—1st, Jim and Pam Hanes, 643 W. 5th St.; 2nd, Rod and Jeri Markee, 427 W. 15th St.
Best tree—1st, Ron and Bonnie Moritz, 944 Grant; 2nd, Stewart Weiss, 1328 Douglas.
Most unique—1st, Jess and Joyce Bernard, 1243 Wellington; 2nd, Kriss and Lisa Krutsinger, 250 W. 16th.
Judges’ choice—1st, Doug and Judy Gaswick, 1020 Chase; 2nd, Kenny and Karen Edwards, 1429 Wellington.
