Farmers and ranchers will want to mark Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 on their calendars.
That’s the date for the Imperial Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Ag Technology Fair.
Clint Johnson, chair of the Chamber’s ag committee and incoming president, said the purpose of the fair is two-fold.
First, Johnson said the fair provides the Chamber with the opportunity to recognize and thank local farmers for supporting local businesses.
Secondly, the fair provides farmers and ranchers the chance to become informed on cutting-edge technology available for their operations, Johnson said.
The fair also provides businesses with the venue to share technologies that will benefit the producer.
Johnson said the committee set a goal of bringing in a dozen businesses and service providers to display at the expo.
He said they’ve been successful in reaching that goal and feels they have a wide array of displayers for the expo.
The expo will be held at the Imperial city gym from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a meal for producers.
