City now chlorinating drinking water PDF Print E-mail

Several local residents are noticing a different taste in their drinking water.
Imperial Public Works Supt. Pat Davison said temporary chlorination of the water started Nov. 17, and will continue until the water main installation is completed on East 12th Street.
The chlorination is done to prevent bacteria from entering the water system, which can occur during projects that connect  a new water main line to other current water lines.
Davison emphasized there is no health danger in drinking chlorinated water. Many larger communities chlorinate their drinking water on a regular basis.
