Gaswick completes Washburn football career, Brophy on VB team PDF Print E-mail

Imperial’s Nathan Gaswick completed his college football career this season at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. Gaswick missed eight games this season due to broken arm but finished with 10 tackles for the season at linebacker.  He broke his other arm last year, limiting him to six games. He also played fullback and tight end for the Ichabods, who finished 8-3 this season. Gaswick’s regular number was 49 but he wore #40 in his final game in honor of teammate Ben Muir, who died in car crash last March. Senior members of the team wore the jersey throughout the season in memory of Muir. Freshman Tessa Brophy, formerly of Imperial, played volleyball for Washburn this season. She led the team in sets played with 131 and started eight of the team’s 38 games. As a back row specialist, she finished second in digs with 346. The team made their sixth straight NCAA postseason appearance, falling in the South Central regional semifinals last week. Brophy played her high school volleyball at Papillion-LaVista South.
